College entrance examination may be just a test in modern big cities. Children can go abroad and have many plans. However, in small cities, in rural areas, a college entrance examination can determine whether a child will face the loess or rely on technology for a lifetime.

高考在现代化的大城市里面可能只是一场考试，孩子们还可以出国，还可以有很多打算。但是，在小城市，在农村，一次高考，就能决定一个孩子一辈子面朝黄土背朝天还是靠技术吃饭。

Compared with this society which is criticized unfairly everywhere, the college entrance examination is by far the most fair way. It basically provides a platform for some people to cross the dragon's gate regardless of their origin and money.

相对这个处处被诟病不公平的社会而言，高考是目前为止最公平的方式，它基本不论出身，不论钱财，而提供了一个平台，使得某些人能够越过龙门。

However, similar to the application mode of the United States, China's independent enrollment mode and walk through mode can not be compared with the college entrance examination in terms of fairness. The unfair distribution of resources leads to the failure to guarantee the turning over opportunities of the real weak under these seemingly innovative and fair models.

而类似美国的申请方式，中国的自主招生模式，保送模式就公平性而言都无法与高考相提并论。资源分配的不公平导致了在这些看似创新和公平的模式下无法保障真正弱者的翻身机会。

The college entrance examination seems to take the same test on the same day in the north and south of the river. It seems that there is only one family, but this kind of setting is the root of ensuring fairness. This kind of setting avoids fraud and the cost burden brought by many examinations, which makes almost everyone can afford and every university recognizes it.

而高考看似在大江南北同一天考同一场试，似乎只此一家，但是这样的设置恰恰是保证公平的根源，这样的设置，避免了舞弊，避免了多次考试带来的费用负担，使得几乎人人都考得起，每所大学也都认可。

I work with Volunteers for Wildlife, a rescue and education organization at Bailey Arboretum in LocustValley. Trying to help injured, displaced or sick creatures can be heartbreaking; survival is never certain. However, when it works, it is simply beautiful.

And it was accompanied in the nest by the greatest sight of all — LUNCH！The parents had done their duty and would probably continue to do so.

这的确是一个紧张的夜晚，但有时大自然的神灵会眷顾我们！房主打电话说小猫头鹰的父母已经对这些录音做出了回应。我开车过去，鸟巢里的小猫头鹰看起来健康又活泼。鸟巢里出现了最令人感动的一幕——小猫头鹰的身边全是午餐！它的父母已经在尽职尽责，而且很可能会继续这样做。
